Photographs taken during the reception held in the Great Hall of Hart House in honour of Dr. Claude T. Bissell on the occasion of his retirement as University of Toronto president. It includes photographs of Claude and Christine Bissell with guests including: Professor Vincent Bladen (Political Economy), Miss Mary Cassidy, former Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Bernard Etkin (Engineering Science), Professor W. A. C. H. Dobson (East Asian Studies/Chinese), Dean James M. Ham, Principal A. C. H. Hallett (University College) and his wife, Dr. John D. Hamilton (Vice-President of Health Sciences), Principal Donald Ivey (New College), Mrs. Roland R. McLaughlin (widow of the former Dean of Applied Science and Engineering), Alex G. Rankin, Executive Vice-President non-academic, Dr. John H. Sword, Executive Vice-President academic, and Roy L. Jones, Associate Director of Development. It also includes photographs of Bissell receiving gifts: rare volumes inscribed by the author, George Bernard Shaw - and a frisbee which was also thrown by guests.
