Left to right: Professor Frank Hooper, Dean James Ham, John G. Cowan, the retiring President of the Engineering Alumni Association, and F. Ted Gerson, the Alumni President-elect The chair was presented to Ham to commemorate the constitutional change to the restructured Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering Council and the Dean's retirement from the chairmanship. James Ham was Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering from 1967 to 1973 and President of the University of Toronto from 1978 to 1983. The portrait in the background is of John Galbraith, the first Dean of the Faculty.
