This conference was sponsored by the University of Toronto Department of Islamic Studies and scholars at McGill University in celebration of the 2500th anniversary of Iranian culture. Speakers included Prof. Roger M. Savory, G.M. Wickens and G.M.Meredith-Owens of the University of Toronto. Also in attendance: Canada's Governor General Roland Michener and his wife; Speaker of the Senate, Hon. Jean-Paul Deschatelets; acting President of the University of Toronto, Dr. John H. Sword; Director of McGill's Institute of Islamic Studies, Professor Charles J. Adams; Professor E. J. Keall, University of Toronto Department of Islamic Studies; and Iranian Ambassador Hon. Mohammed Goodarzi. The photographs include a portrait of Ronald Michener, an Iranian gift to the Governor General, gifts and souvenirs from His Excellency's visit to Iran.
