The debate was interrupted several times by a heckling student who finally had to be forcibly ousted from the room.

Photographs taken during the annual Varsity Fund telethon campaign, running from March 3rd and carried over until April 1969. There was the Toronto based telethon campaign as well as the U.S. teams phoning on behalf of the Associates of the University of Toronto, Inc., New York, who were pacesetters for the telethons scheduled in Hamilton, Niagara - St. Catharines, London, Windsor, Ottawa, Vancouver and Montreal. It was reported a total of more than $230,000 in pledges. It includes photographs of more than 2,000 alumni from every sector, who in teams of 100 spent the evening working and answering phone calls from donors in the East Hall of University College. Included in the photographs are: Dr. Claude T. Bissell, president of the University of Toronto, Roy L. Jones, Associate Director of Development, William H. Broadhurst, Telethon Chairman and photographs of the Telethon Trophy, which goes to the division with the highest percentage of donors in Toronto based telephone campaign. The Varsity Fund began in 1960 and was designed to cover cost of "extras" such as scholarships, fellowships, academic research, general projects, works of art and new projects, which had become vital to the University's progress.
