Description
Photographs taken during the annual meeting of the University of Toronto Alumni Association (UTAA) at the University College's West Hall in 1971. It includes photographs of the meeting with alumni in attendance and the luncheon at Howard Ferguson Hall where President Claude T. Bissell and Mrs. Bissell were honoured and presented with a gift for their new home. It also includes photographs of the new University chancellor, Pauline Mills McGibbon. In attendance: Roy L. Jones, Associate Director of Development; Mr. Don McGibbon; H. Ian Macdonald, Chairman of the President's Long Range Planning Committee on Alumni Affairs; M.F. Roberts, Chairman of the Alumni Advisory Council; Walter Giles, Chairman of the University of Toronto Alumni Association; and Mrs. June Surgey, representative on the UTAA College of Electors.

Photographs of alumni and lecturers during the "Genetic and the Future of Man" symposium at University College and luncheon in the Great Hall at Hart House in 1972. It includes photographs of different speakers, including: Dr. Louis Siminovitch, Chairman, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and Geneticist-in-Chief at the Hospital for Sick Children; Dr. Hans Stich, Professor of Genetics, Cancer Research Centre, University of British Columbia; Dr. David Suzuki, Professor of Zoology, University of British Columbia and host of the CBC-TV series, Suzuki on Science; and Professor Herbert W. Richardson, Associate Professor of Theology, Toronto School of Theology. Panel discussions were organized by Mrs. Christina Newman, Associate Editor of Maclean's, and Mrs. Hilda McKinlay, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Toronto. Pauline M. McGibbon Chancellor of the University of Toronto, and Dr. John H. Sword, Acting President of the University of Toronto were in attendance.

Includes shots of William A. E. Sheppard, President of the University of Toronto Alumni Association presenting two University of Toronto Alumni Association trophies to the winners of the 1960 and 1961 homecoming float parades. Engineering student Sam Klich (001) was presented with a new University of Toronto Alumni Association Trophy for winning in 1961 while the old trophy was presented to Max Rotstein, President of the Students' Law Society (003) to keep permanently after winning the parade for the third consecutive year in 1960.

Left to right: Professor Frank Hooper, Dean James Ham, John G. Cowan, the retiring President of the Engineering Alumni Association, and F. Ted Gerson, the Alumni President-elect The chair was presented to Ham to commemorate the constitutional change to the restructured Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering Council and the Dean's retirement from the chairmanship. James Ham was Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering from 1967 to 1973 and President of the University of Toronto from 1978 to 1983. The portrait in the background is of John Galbraith, the first Dean of the Faculty.
