Description
Photographs taken before, during and after the meeting of the General Committee of the Faculty of Arts and Science regarding the parity issues in University government at the Medical Sciences Auditorium in 1971. It includes photographs of student protests, students blocking the entrance to the building, and expressing their views on parity during Arts and Science Faculty Council meeting. Some of those in attendance include: J. R. Vanstone, Association Professor of Mathematics, Archie Hallett, principal of UC (originally to chair the meeting), Peter Silcox, Professor of Political Science, Derek Paul, Professor of Physics, W. H. Nelson, Professor of History, Albert D. Allen, Dean of Arts and Science (meeting chair) and other faculty members, Robert (Bob) Spencer, SAC Education Commissioner and elected president, Norm Rogers, General Committee representative, Bob James, Student committee member, and other student representatives.

Photographs document the first public hearing of the Commission on Post-Secondary Education in Ontario where, a six person delegation of the University of Toronto Faculty Association presented a brief protesting many of the proposals of the Commission's draft report. The delegation, which wrote and presented the brief included: Professor James Conacher, president of UTFA, William B. Dunphy of St. Michael's College, Michael Finlayson from the Department of History, Arthur Kruger from Political Economy, R.M.H. Sheppard from Classics, W.H.Smith from Electrical Engineering and G. R. Williams form Biochemistry (this last delegate was not present at this meeting).

Senate Chamber - organizational meeting for alumni giving
Views of a meeting in the Senate Chamber of Simcoe to purpose a plan for the creation of an annual All-Varsity Alumni fund. This integrated fund would replace any campaigns run by individual Alumni groups. The meeting was attended by the board of directors of the University of Toronto Alumni Association, presidents of several Alumni groups, deans and heads of Colleges and Divisions, and several leaders of the National Fund. Included are shots of the attendees and speakers which included Dr. Claude Bissell, President of the University
