Photographs taken during City of Toronto hearings on the link between the death of ducks on an island in Toronto Harbour and the use of Deazinon (pesticide) by the Metro Toronto Parks Department. This issue mobilized Pollution Probe, a student organization to join forces with a local environmental group - Group Action to Stop Pollution (GASP) - to convene an unofficial inquiry at which these photographs were taken. Commissioners included Dr. Robert McClure, Moderator of the United Church of Canada; Prof. Ernest Sirluck University of Toronto Vice-President and Graduate Dean and Prof. Marshall McLuhan, Director of the University's Center for Culture and Technology. Prof. Donald Chant, chair of the Department of Zoology, a member of Pollution Probes, spoke as a witness at the hearings.

Photographs taken at the opening of the exhibit "Art for Architecture - The Wall", a traveling exhibition mounted by the Art Gallery of Ontario, at the Scarborough College "Science Street", in 1969. The exhibit included 33 leading Canadian artists. There were 15 contemporary wall hangings by Micheline Beauchemin, Joni Baker, Charlotte Lindgren, Joyce Weiland, and others; 15 walls of aluminum, ceramics, paintings, posters and sculpture by Michael Snow, Margot Ariss, Merton Chambers, Louis de Niverville, Roy Speirs, among others; and 6 illuminates by Harold Town, John Masciuch, Zbigniew Blazje, Michael Hayden and Margit Gatterbauer. Photographs show artwork as well as artists, visitors, staff members of the College. Also documented are William Withrow and E. G. Bovey of the Art Gallery of Ontario, Miss Anita Aarons, organizer and Wynne Plumptre, principal of the Scarborough College. There are also interior views of Scarborough College.

Photographs show Claude T. Bissell, University President, welcoming first year student and addressing the student body in Convocation Hall (Opening address). Students greet returning Bissell who was away teaching at Harvard University the previous year. Free watermelon is given to the students prior to the meeting as a form of protest to Bissell's stance on University governance outside of Convocation Hall. Also, included are images of students and tents in front of Hart House representing "Tent City," which is a dramatization of the student housing shortage at the University of Toronto. This issue is further documented in photographs of student crowds in front Convocation Hall being addressed by student leaders.

Photographs taken during the University of Toronto's "welcome home" reception given in honour of Professor Marshall McLuhan's return from Fordham in 1968. The party was held at the University President's home in Rosedale. Decorations were the works of Professor Peter Pragnell and his team from the Faculty of Architecture. The "God-bless-you-Marshall-McLuhan" buttons were worn by all the guests. Some people in attendance were: Dr. Floyd Chalmers, Chancellor of York, Robert F.
