Description
This photograph was taken sometime after Ham was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in June 1980. The original image shows him wearing the Order of Canada pin. James Ham was Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering from 1967 to 1973 and was President of the University of Toronto from 1978 to 1983. He was born in 1920 and died in 1997.

Ted Gerson, the Alumni President-elect The chair was presented to Ham to commemorate the constitutional change to the restructured Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering Council and the Dean's retirement from the chairmanship. James Ham was Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering from 1967 to 1973 and President of the University of Toronto from 1978 to 1983. The portrait in the background is of John Galbraith, the first Dean of the Faculty.

In 1959 he became the Principal of University College and in 1963 he was appointed Vice-President (Academic), University of Toronto.
