Photograph of a painting of Loudon by Sir William Orpen. James Loudon was born in 1841 and died in 1916. He was appointed professor of mathematics and physics in 1875. Between 1892 and 1901 Loudon was President of University College and President of the University of Toronto from 1892 to 1906.
