The Hon. Edward Blake was born in 1833 and died in 1912. Blake was Chancellor of the University of Toronto from 1876 to 1900. He was the second Premier of Ontario, 1871-1872.

MacLeod was Professor of Physiology at the University of Toronto from 1918 to 1928 and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Medicine from 1920 to 1928. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine with Dr. Banting for his part in the discovery of insulin in 19l23. MacLeod resigned the Chair of Physiology in 1928 and died in 1935.

In 1927 he became a Professor of Forestry and Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, a position he held for 21 years. Howe retired in 1941 and died in 1946.
